1. Create mechanisms, standards and processes by translating Amazon Security Policies into real world applications to adapt to and or absorb impacts of threats, events or hazards.
2. Train, advise, and partner with other functions in identifying, managing and mitigating risks through robust standards and processes.
3. Lead planning and response across World Wide Amazon Stores (WWAS) teams and manage relationships with business disruption management teams.
4. Create, manage and visualize threat, events and hazard information in Geo-spatial tools to streamline incident preparation, management and recovery efforts
5. Working directly with Geo-Spatial Tools and Intelligence as part of assessing risk and recovery
A day in the life
The Emerging Threat Manager works closely and on daily basis with senior Worldwide Operations Security (WWOS), Regional Security & Loss Prevention (S&LP) and operations leaders to execute organizational vision and drive adoption of proportionate and effective standards and programs. Worldwide Amazon Stores (WWAS) operate in highly diversified and complex environments which includes numerous regulatory and law enforcement models, cultures, languages, criminality levels and national, political, social and security complexities. The Emerging Threat Manager works alongside the AMER Resilience Managers to develop comprehensive emerging threat management procedures, escalation protocols and manage coordination calls for leadership and support team preparedness activities for events such as natural disasters and emerging threats. They enable crisis preparation, management and recovery efforts by managing Geo-spatial tools to visualize key data inputs from various internal and external sources.
About the team
Working in partnership with our stakeholders, we secure the Amazon supply chain end-to-end and promote security in business decision-making conversations. We do this by preventing Security and Loss Prevention-related risks and vulnerabilities as early as possible, intervening in unfolding incidents in order to minimize any negative impact as well as thoroughly investigating security-related incidents in order to identify and remove root causes, preventing reoccurrence.
The Resilience team creates and maintains a Resilience framework to ensure continuation of our business, providing risk oversight, risk preparedness, contingency planning and incident response as a service to Business and operational Security & Loss Prevention Teams. The Resilience team provides strategic, tactical and operational mechanisms by working closely with global and regional business leaders and support functions.
The team leverages global and regional Risk & Resilience (R&R) teams to monitor existing and evolving threats, assessing risk level changes in order to drive increased preparedness and enable business adaptation and or absorption of changing risk conditions, including response and recovery activity to manifested incident and crisis events.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience handling confidential information
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of program requirements definition and data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements experience
- Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials
- Experience with SQL and Excel

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $142,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
