About the Role:
As a Senior Commodity Manager specializing in Semiconductor Components, you will lead the technical and commercial sourcing strategies for cutting-edge semiconductor solutions. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams from the earliest product development stages through engineering validation and beyond. You will have the opportunity to directly influence the technology and supply chain decisions behind our devices, ensuring the seamless delivery of innovative products to millions of customers worldwide.

Key job responsibilities
As a Commodity Manager, you will:

- Develop and execute a comprehensive commodity technology roadmap that aligns business needs with supplier capabilities, anticipating future trends in semiconductor technologies.
- Own the Approved Vendor List (AVL) and lead the supplier lifecycle from selection and qualification to cost&contract negotiation and performance evaluation.
- Stay ahead of industry trends by analyzing market drivers, cost structures, technical innovations, and competitive landscapes to mitigate risks and leverage opportunities.
- Drive cost-reduction initiatives through rigorous analysis, value engineering, and fostering competitive sourcing environments. Collaborate with engineering to influence design decisions for optimal cost and performance.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering teams and other cross functional teams to influence technical design decisions, ensuring they meet expectations, technical capabilities, and business objectives
- Develop and maintain a robust risk mitigation strategy, addressing potential supply chain disruptions and ensuring business continuity.
- Lead periodic business reviews to evaluate supplier performance and align on strategic business objectives.
- Interface with Planning and Program Management teams to assess current and future sourcing requirements.
- Periodically travel to supplier sites to drive initiatives such as cost reductions, relationship building and supplier development.



A day in the life
As a Senior Commodity Manager and subject-matter expert for semiconductor components, your day is a dynamic mix of strategic planning, technical problem-solving, and supplier engagement. You manage technical and commercial sourcing strategy of Semiconductor components for multiple programs from pre-concept stages to EVT/DVT in collaboration with architecture, engineering, NPI operations, legal and suppliers and handoff to sustaining GSM. You’ll collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to influence design decisions while aligning with technical and business goals. Your role involves negotiating with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms, optimizing supply chain processes to reduce lead times and costs, and resolving complex engineering or supply chain challenges. You’ll stay ahead of market trends, pricing dynamics, and technological advancements to refine sourcing strategies, ensuring Amazon remains competitive. Cross-functional leadership is key, as you partner with legal, NPI operations, and planning teams to assess future sourcing needs and develop risk mitigation plans. You’ll also lead supplier evaluations, conduct business reviews to ensure performance meets expectations, and report progress to senior leadership, demonstrating how your strategies drive the success of Amazon Devices. About the team

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science
- 5+ years of experience in technical and commercial sourcing within high-volume manufacturing operations
- 5+ years direct experience in supplier/supply chain management, with strong knowledge of the semiconductor industry, IC manufacturing and packaging processes and key suppliers.
- Demonstrated expertise in contract negotiations, cost analysis, and supplier performance management.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Familiarity with world-class sourcing methodologies and tools.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and a proven track record of cost reductions and supplier development.
- Strong analytical skills for cost modeling and market trend analysis.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence cross-functional teams.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
