Key job responsibilities
- Design and build business critical, highly available, large scale, distributed systems
- Collaborate across technical teams, UX design teams, product and program teams, customers, and stakeholders
- Lead software design reviews, and review and influence designs for other engineers on your team and partner teams
- Identify the right technologies to delight customers by working backwards from customer needs and working directly with customers to test prototypes and incorporate feedback
- Coach and mentor engineers on the team to foster a supportive culture of collaboration and delivery to high standards
A day in the life
As a Software Development Engineer on the Contingent Worker Journey team you will enjoy collaborating with colleagues to design and implement streamlined workflows delighting customers. You'll start with a stand-up meeting to sync on priorities, then dive into coding new features for the centralized intake platform, automating compliance checks, or enhancing reporting tools. You’ll troubleshoot issues, refine integrations with global systems, and brainstorm innovative solutions in dynamic discussions. Throughout the day, you'll balance focused development work with collaborative problem-solving, all within a fun, supportive team environment dedicated to transforming Amazon's workforce management.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
