As our Data Center Project Engineer, you will support the teams that build some of the most interesting electrical and mechanical systems in the world. You will be on the construction site, daily interacting with the construction managers and stakeholders and be directly responsible for supporting the fast, high-quality delivery of our data center construction. The Data Center Project Engineer will be part of the onsite Construction Management team and will own the communication coordination with our vendors, information workflow, and coordination of document management including requests for information (RFI), change orders, reports, and schedule updates.

Key job responsibilities
The Data Center Construction Project Engineer will be responsible for:
• Establishing communication and coordination across a data center region’s general contractors, stakeholders, and internal teams on site, shell and room build activities.
• Supporting set up of Procore repository and utilization by partner teams.
• Participating in constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs associated with the construction of new data centers or optimization of existing data centers.
• Tracking and stewarding build documentation including design changes, submittals, RFI’s, change orders, and invoicing.
• Requesting and reviewing MOPs (Method of Procedure) for proper details, necessity, and risk.
• Onboarding new vendors for badging and orientation.
• Updating project management milestone dates, correspondence, and documents.
• Monitoring delivery of owner furnished material to site.
• Managing checklists including punch lists, safety inspections, and quality observations.
• Overseeing project closeout efforts including verification of closeout documents (e.g. As-Builts) and ensuring timely financial closeout.
• Contributing to specific initiatives aimed at increasing the resiliency of our data centers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or an equivalent engineering science OR 6+ years of related construction management experience in lieu of a degree, along with 3+ years of experience in construction management of large, complex projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) plants.
- 3+ years of general contractor and vendor management experience (request for proposals, bidding, change orders, quality control, RFI/submittal tracking) associated with construction and project execution.
- This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and currently possess and maintain an active Top Secret security clearance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with cross function teams to deliver complex construction projects.
- Understand data center system-level architecture and electrical engineering principles, including switch gear, UPS, transformers, circuit breakers, breaker coordination studies, and switchgear sequence of operation; and data center system-level architecture and mechanical engineering principles for cooling systems.
- Able to communicate clearly and use data to justify conclusions; to read and interpret construction specifications and drawings for all disciplines; to specify and document performance and equipment requirements, create and communicate conceptual designs, and create and maintain project documentation; and to value engineer, and find creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs and duration with no impact on quality and reliability.
- Experience with design or construction of data centers, critical infrastructure, or large-scale MEP plants; and with systems, controls, commissioning, power management, and technical operations of data centers critical infrastructure, or large-scale MEP plants.
- Knowledge of governing building codes and regulations, including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA; and/or Certified as a Professional Engineer (PE), LEED, or Certified Construction Manager (CCM).
