Key job responsibilities

• Ensure API's payment activities and operations comply with all legal and regulatory requirements
• Advise on regulatory requirements and develop compliance controls for new business initiatives
• Develop, document, and maintain compliance policies and procedures
• Deliver compliance awareness and training to the business
• Prepare metrics and updates for internal governance committees, submit periodic activity reports to external regulators
• Collaborate with stakeholders to respond to auditor, examiner and regulator inquiries, manage regulatory examinations and post-exam activities
• Work with Amazon teams to acquire, maintain and renew money transmitter licenses and meet regulatory obligations
• Review regulatory complaints and prepare response letters to customers
• Exercise judgment using risk-based approach to drive results
• Analyze processes for opportunities to innovate and improve
• Monitor regulatory changes and emerging risks, communicate key developments to stakeholders and support regulatory change implementation

• Interact with employees at various levels to collect and communicate information
• Serve as the point of contact and liaise with regulators, audit teams, bank partners, and vendors/third-party service providers

About the team
The Amazon Risk and Compliance Services team supports our Amazon Payments businesses around the world. We are seeking an experienced subject matter expert and team player who can apply broad risk and compliance knowledge to challenging and complex initiatives. The Licensing Compliance Manager (L5) will be part of the North America Regulatory Engagement Team that heading the regulatory engagement and supports the licensing, exam and regulatory reporting for Amazon businesses.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience in program requirements definition, together with data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements
- Good understanding of AML/BSA and Money Transmission regulations, including license management, regulatory reporting, complaint handling, safeguarding, and operational resilience
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to translate complex issues for technical and non-technical audiences
- Team player with ability to work closely with others to deliver results, identify and resolve issues, and share information
- Willingness to learn new skills and become an SME on new requirements
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, problem-solving, multi-tasking and calibrate priorities with minimal supervision
- Capability to challenge the status-quo and drive for results in ambiguous, fast-paced environments

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials
- Experience with SQL and Excel
- Payments, lending or regulator background, familiar with NMLS and license management
- Professional certification such as CAMS, CRCM, or CRP
