Key job responsibilities
• Providing day-to-day advice to our Amazon’s Food Safety Operations team and food businesses on regulations governing the transport and sale of food from farm to fork, including laws governing food production, distribution, labeling, recalls, foodborne illnesses and allergens, and permitting;
• Monitoring and advising food safety and compliance teams on upcoming regulatory changes and maintenance of existing compliance processes;
• Providing mission critical legal advice on the design of safety mechanisms and technology tools developed and used by the Food Safety and technology teams, including those impacting food recalls;
• Advising on internal processes and practices to support food safety related governance requirements and expectations; and
• Serving as lead counsel in the response and resolution of food regulatory inquiries.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- 5+ years of legal experience
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
- Experience in crisis management and response or equivalent
- Extensive experience handling complex regulatory or litigation matters and working with US consumer product regulations and regulators, such as FDA, USDA, or CPSC regulations

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
