Key Strategic Objectives:
This is our most senior DC security role with global responsibility for the policies, processes, and systems that direct, guide, and enable physical security design and operations. You’ll partner with leaders across AWS Data Center Community and AWS Security, presenting your ideas, actions, and results to the senior most leaders in AWS.
You will lead our global Data Center Security organization, consisting of physical, data, and logical security experts, program and project managers, and a large contract guard force. You’ll partner with AWS Security to define our standards, and with Data Center Operations to enact those standards globally. You’ll optimize the effectiveness of our security organization with technology and innovation that let you grow your org and costs more slowly than the business is growing. You’ll provide security across a variety of data center models, including Amazon owned facilities, third-party vendor facilities, small local points of presence, and customer-private clouds.

Key job responsibilities
We seek a proven leader with operational strength and experience building and leading large geographically dispersed teams. Additional responsibilities include:
• Data center security performance goals, metrics, and reporting
• Security policy and process development and implementation
• Oversight of security investigations, proposing resolution recommendations, reporting to senior AWS leadership, and closing out actions that prevent recurrence
• Leading, managing, coaching, and developing people across a large, diverse, geographically dispersed organization
• Performance and cost management of vendors, keeping operating expenses in line with management targets
• Managing a multi-million dollar capital expenditure budget, delivering projects that provide enhanced security at improved cost
• Contributing to continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools including those related to safety, security, and availability, incident/event response, management, recovery, and resolution
• Managing security transitions from construction (general contractor owned) to operations (you own)
A day in the life
This is an operations role in the physical DC space – you will manage the operating details of your organization, ensuring consistent results, solving emergent business problems, ensuring events and issues are driven to swift resolution, and keeping your team ahead of customer impacting risks and issues. You’ll work with your peers and leadership chain to define our strategic objectives and build the plans to implement them. Your most important job is to develop the employees in your organization, preparing them for the future while continually pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience in asset protection and controls (loss prevention, supply chain, critical infrastructure)
• 5+ years relevant and transferrable experience, leading and implementing multiple industry best practices
• 5+ years leading operations or security teams
• 10+ years of infrastructure program or project management experience
• 10+ years managing large organizations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•Substantive experience in physical security countermeasures and technology
• Results delivered through at least one continuous improvement methodology (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, or similar)
• Cost or P&L ownership and delivering year on year cost improvements • Experience in vendor and supplier performance management
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, up to the c-suite level
• Ownership and program management of automation or technology programs
• Ability to hire, develop, and manage high-performing technical teams

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $190,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $283,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
