The team will be focused on designing and implementing solutions to help Last Mile operations team to scale and operate efficiently in the increasingly complex delivery network. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to all parts of the software development and deployment lifecycle, including design, development, documentation, testing and operations. They will learn about Amazon’s logistics network, interact with central operations and peer engineering teams to build optimized systems, and have the autonomy to deliver software that has a broad impact. They must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven, and deliver high quality results in a fast-paced environment. They should thrive by working closely with their peers in a group of smart and talented engineers. It is still Day 1 in the Last Mile Technology space!
Key job responsibilities
As a key member of the engineering team, you will have influence on our product strategy by helping define the product features, refine system architecture, and spearhead best practices that enable a quality product.
You will be successfully setting the foundation for the next phase of the product and beyond. A commitment to teamwork, hustle, and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners) are absolute requirements. Creating a reliable, scalable, and high-performance service requires exceptional technical expertise, a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Science, and practical experience building large-scale distributed systems.
You should enjoy working on complex system software, is customer-centric, and feels strongly about building good software as well as making that software achieve its operational goals.
A day in the life
The bulk of an average day is centered around designing and building features to create or enhance existing applications.
Otherwise other elements of a day that happen are:
· Working on ad-hoc requests and bug fixes
· Participating in doc reviews with product managers and stakeholders
· Supporting and delegating tickets while on-call
· Team meetings and presentations/learning sessions

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
