Amazon's Pricing & Promotions Science, Data, and Insights organization is seeking a driven Senior Science Manager to build & lead an exceptional business intelligence, data science, and economics group, harnessing planet scale pricing and promotions datasets to regularly generate and automate access to needle-moving business insights and novel metrics on billions of Amazon and Third Party Seller products worldwide.

We are looking for a talented, organized, and customer-focused leader to head the Analytics & Insights group, with a charter to define & causally measure the right things, surface and identify novel opportunities through data, then propose and drive resulting actions for Customer, Seller, and Amazon success.

This role requires an individual with excellent team leadership skills, outstanding business acumen, and an entrepreneurial spirit. An experienced leader who is a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and has the ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.

Key job responsibilities
- Build the right team. Lead and foster a highly talented group of scientists, economists, and data & business intelligence engineers. Establish internal and external talent acquisition opportunities.

- See the big picture. Shape long term vision for Amazon's science-based competitive, perception-preserving pricing techniques

- Build strong collaborations. Partner with product, engineering, and science teams within Pricing & Promotions to deploy and automate self-service metrics reporting approaches, causal counterfactual measurement techniques, and insights generation solutions at Amazon scale

- Stay informed. Establish mechanisms to stay up to date on latest reporting, data mining, and econometric advancements. Identify opportunities to apply them to relevant Pricing & Promotions business problems

- Keep innovating for Customers, Sellers, and Amazon. Foster an environment that promotes rapid experimentation, continuous learning, and incremental value delivery.

About the team
The Pricing and Promotions Sciences strive to accelerate Customer, Seller, and overall Amazon success through the proactive development of automated intelligent pricing and promotions science systems, and the facilitation of trustworthy data-driven decision making at scale. We look around corners for both long-term and short-term flywheel causal impacts, and think holistically, from sourcing to CX, and all customer journey touch points in between.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Business Intelligence, Machine Learning, Finance, or related field.
- 10+ years of broad data science or economics experience on large-scale industry problems in pricing, trading, rankings, or recommendations domains
- 5+ years of experience leading science, economics, business intelligence or data teams
- A track record of balancing project delivery with longer term strategy and vision.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and AWS data technologies
- Proven written and verbal technical communication with the ability to present complex topics clearly to audiences with varying levels of technical familiarity

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience delivering and scaling insights based science solutions involving counterfactual measurement, data mining, LLMs, and interactive dashboards
- Experience of influencing business or company strategy through relevant data insights and long term measurement vision
- Experience partnering with academic institutions for collaborations and talent acquisition

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $208,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $324,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
